In Game Contest Monday in-house 7:30pm

The awards for Monday in-house has been adjusted a couple of ways over the past few months. It used to be based on time and number of players for a total which was divided into shares. The flaw was that a best of 3 could be over in less than an hour with 14 people, while a 2-team round robin with 16 people could take over 2 hours and award barely any more credits to the players and casters in total. The new system will be on a per-match basis with value to the roles we think require more work than fun. This is specific to HotS in-house and may not apply to other games or events.

Currently we shuffle teams for every match and award points as follows:

• 20 credits to each player on the winning team.
• 33 credits to the MVP of the match as decided by casters.
• Statistically, each player on average earns 13.3 points per match.
• 60 credits to a solo-streamer-caster, currently in my opinion the hardest job and most in-demand.
• 40 credits to a streamer-caster who has a co-caster.
• 20 credits to a co-caster.
• 20 credits to a player-caster.
• 20 credits to VOD editing, uploading and tagging. Though it requires the most time, the time is flexible.

For example, if a match has one streamer-caster, a co-caster and the VOD gets edited and uploaded to YouTube, the casters will receive 40+20+20=80 credits between 3 of them, while the players receive 133 credits between 10 of them. We think this is a fair distribution according to effort and current demand for workers.

Although this has formed slowly over the past 6 months, one thing I noticed over that period is that I earn considerably more credits than anybody else. To prevent extreme bloating of a single organiser relative to the participants, I've added some additional modifications:

• If I solo-cast AND do the VODs, then I only award credits for solo-casting. This is a 1/3rd reduction.
• In forced DRAW results, I do not award more than 100 credits to myself, even if solo-casting 3 matches and doing VODs. This is less than half of 240 according to the template. In forced DRAW results, players are still awarded equal shares of the player allocation.
• In 3-match sets, including played DRAWS, my maximum credit award is 120 for matches casted myself. VOD points still count for doing VODs of other caster's matches. See 20170925 for an example of Nakid and myself each solo-streamer-casting 3 matches and me doing the VODs for all 6.
• Sometimes a best of 3 goes quite smoothly and a co-caster joins me for the whole slog. In these cases, the template awards 120+60=180 points to the streamer-caster, but I cap the award to myself at 100 so as not to diminish the co-caster's efforts. See 20170904 for an example.

NOTE: If any other Officer takes these jobs, they will not be subject to the same modifications as myself and Nakid are. They will always be awarded every point they worked for. For example 20171106 I awarded myself 240 credits for casting 4 matches, one of them solo, and doing VODs for 3 of Nakid's matches. Another officer who does the same job will be entitled to 320 credits.

Monday night in-house festivities are now a recurring tournament with unreal credits as rewards!!!

We can accommodate 10 to 15 players for 3 matches. With 20 players and 2 shoutcasters we can even run 4 teams simultaneously for 3 matches each.

Rewards for a 10 or 15 player tournament are:
- 40 unreal credits each player on the winning team.
- 33 unreal credits per MVP
- If teams tie then the winner credits will jackpot to the following week.
- The first 10 or 15 players in TeamSpeak who are ready to go at the start time are in.

We're also trying to implement a carry over champion rule. Any members from the previous week's winning team who are ready at the start time will be teamed up again. Any missing players will be dropped and the carry over champs will get last picks after the other teams are done.

Divvied up between the organisers equal to 3 MVPs. So for example last week:
20% = 1080p top quality YouTube upload
8% = Streaming poor quality 720p
72% = Shoutcasting
-- 24% = Ag 3 shoutcasts
-- 24% = Nakid 3 shoutcasts
-- 16% = Pointy 2 shoutcasts
-- 8% = Grunter 1 shoutcast

Using last week the 17th as an example, the total credits distribution is:
73 points = DrunkenFairy (Aadra) for winning team and MVP
52 points = Aga for organising
41 points = SeaGrunter for MVP and organising
40 points = Nitrosol, Claymore, HEROxDmav, ReverseCocoa for winning team
33 points = Zendimrul for MVP
24 points = Nakid for organising
16 points = Pointy for organising

So as you can see, being the MVP on the winning team is a surefire way to earn the most credits. SeaGrunter played in 2 matches, not the winning team but got an MVP and shoutcasted one match. Then also you have yourself, Pointy, who played but won nothing, and still got points for shoutcasting the games you didn't play.

We're still experimenting with credit distribution, but at the moment if a 15 man tournament is streamed and put on youtube in 1080p then it's worth 400 points; 200 for the winners, 100 for MVPs and 100 for the organisers.
