Hey everyone,

Dedicated Server Situation and New Game Servers
So we announced the dedicated server a few months ago, and the situation hasn't really changed. Telstra is breaking everyone's balls as per usual and won't hook up the connection to the place where our server is to be hosted. Still no ETA, but hopefully in a few weeks.

Minecraft
In the mean time, the Minecraft officers have started discussions about what mods and other content they want on the Minecraft server. If you have any thoughts, feel free to post in the Minecraft section of the forum.

Team Fortress 2
For Team Fortress 2 we have decided to go ahead and hire a server, as it is more cost effective than piling it all onto the dedicated at the start. This will hopefully be up and operating over the weekend.

Co-op Games and Legacy Games
As some of you may have noticed, we're getting into a lot of games recently. While this is great, some games can't support the activity that we need to be an "official" game played by uA. This comes with the awkward situation of someone signing up and saying "Oh, they play this game!" only to realise that a handful of people actually play it.

We want to cater to both these newcomers (without deceiving them) and also provide game support for people that want to play a particular game. This is where our existing Co-op Division comes into play.

New games will come into the community under the "Co-op" tag and officers will be known as "Co-op officers". There will be no formal application for the particular game, however there will be a co-op application where you can list various games you play. Once the game reaches a certain amount of activity (dependent on the scope of the game), it will then move up to become an official game played by uA just like Guild Wars 2, DotA 2, LoL, etc are right now. Games where our player base has dwindled (ie. Legacy games) will also be moved under the Co-op Division. This includes games like Battlefield 3 and Planetside 2.

The forums for the Legacy games will be made a subforum of Co-op.

Events for these games will generally occur on either a special occasion or as part of our weekly Co-op Night. They will be coloured brown on the Event calendar.

Existing "member" tags for these legacy games will stay, as a testament to your experience playing with uA in various games. Officers of these games will also receive the member tag and become Co-op Officers if they wish to continue.

uA Recruitment Poster Competition
We are running a competition to create an A4-sized recruitment poster which we can place at unis/net cafes/etc. You could win some awesome prizes! Submissions close on the 18th of May so don't be too slow!

uA Blog (21/4/13) - Shootmania, Defiance and more!

Hey guys,

Well this has been a busy few weeks for uA! We have entered into both Defiance and ShootMania as they have both been released now! We have a 16 slot server up for ShootMania which you should check out, as well as a ShootMania ladder where you can see your rank progression throughout the week.

We have also entered into the world of Defiance! Read more about it in the full blog post.

We have also finally made the shift to a Teamspeak 3 server hosted by GameArena. This means people connecting from outside of Australia won't be disconnected by Hypernia's shitty anti-DDoS software :)

Congratulations to Victorious Secret for winning the uA DotA 2 birthday tournament 2 games to 0!

uA Blog (2/4/13) - Birthday Wrap-up

Hey guys,

The uA 9th birthday is now at a close. Lets have a recap of the various events and great moments that occurred over the course of March.

The Guild Wars 2 event overloaded vent and made me upgrade to 90 users. We had an awesome time doing our first Guild Bounty and also completely FILLING an entire borderland in WvW.

The PlanetSide 2 event also went really well, with around 20 people turning up. I generously gave extra prizes for killing Tanlash (congrats Seb!)

The League of Legends round robin went well with Ag's special scoring system making sure no one abused the system! The DotA 2 tournament had a few hiccups initially with a team dropping out but there are only 2 more rounds until it is all finished! Tune in at 2:30pm AEST on Sunday 7th to check it out! Nether and I will be shoutcasting the first round.

The Unreal Tournament night was going great... until the instagib round. Someone had obviously been practicing with that rail gun! Team Fortress 2 was also a hit. We filled a pub server and continued to dominate everyone. We also got into a few rounds of Shootmania after TF2 with around 7 of us. Saber was the man to aim for.

We have also just launched our Twitch.tv monitor on our home page which shows a list of official uA streamers and whether they are currently online/offline on Twitch.tv. You can apply to have your stream added to our list here.

I hope you all enjoyed the celebrations! We will continue to hold events/competitions every now and again for various games, but to see something on this scale, you'll need to hang around for the MASSIVE 10th birthday celebration ;)

The uA Blog (2/3/13) - Birthday Edition

Hello fellow Unreal Aussies!

I'm proud to announce that Unreal Aussies is turning 9 on the 4th of March! It has been a long journey, but look how far we have come. We have over 600 members signed up on the forum and that is increasing daily.

Firstly I'd like to thank you. You are a member of this fine community and you are what keeps us going! Secondly I'd like to thank all the hardworking officers who put in the effort to organise and boss members around! And last, but not least, I'd like to thank everyone that has donated to uA so far, you ARE making a difference and that money allows us to do so much more.

We currently have a total of 11 games that are either established or we are about to enter the arena in. I never in my wildest dreams thought we would come this far, but here we are. Be proud, because you are part of an amazing community (so you should also recruit your friends ;) ).

Now, down to business. During our "birthday month" we will be running a series of events that you can view on the Events page.

All Month - "What is in my genes": We are having a month long forum competition. Your job is to send in a picture of you as a youngling and a picture of you now. On the 24th, submissions will close and the pictures posted up. You must then make 1 unedited post with who you think is who. The person with the most correct will win a copy of Dungeon Defenders with ALL DLCs.

3rd March 7:00pm AEST - Guild Wars 2: Both new and old members are welcome to try out the new Guild Events system as well as some old fashioned World vs World.

4th March ALL DAY - Unreal Aussies Birthday!: Come on vent and chat on our official birthday! You may even be in the running to win some awesome prizes.

10th March 7:30pm AEST - PlanetSide 2: The Olympics returns with some added Winter. Events, shennanigans, prizes and more!

15th March 6:00pm AEST - League of Legends Round Robin: Some inhouse LoL action. Prizes!

17th March 7:30pm AEST - DotA 2 Tournament Heats: Do you have what it takes? Register your team and take on other avid uA DotA 2 players!

17th March 7:30pm AEST - Unreal Tournament Tournament: Break out the oldschool FPS, because we're running a night of Unreal birthday madness!

22nd March 6:00pm AEST - League of Legends Round Robin: Round 2 of the round robin

23rd March 7:00pm AEST - uA Birthday Meetup IRL BRISBANE/GOLD COAST: Second meetup for all the people in South East Queensland!

23rd March 7:00pm AEDT - uA Birthday Meetup IRL SYDNEY: First meetup for all you Sydney people!

23rd March 7:00pm AEDT - uA Birthday Meetup IRL MELBOURNE: First meetup for all you Melbourne people!

23rd March 7:00pm CDT - uA Birthday Meetup IRL ADELAIDE: First meetup for all you Adelaide people!

24th March 7:00pm AEST - Tell your War Stories Event: Tell us all the crazy things you got up to at the meetup! (If you aren't too hungover...)

31st March 7:30pm AEST - DotA 2 Tournament Finals: The epic finale to the uA DotA 2 tournament.

31st March 7:00pm AEST - Team Fortress 2 Pub Madness: Come online for the last night of our birthday celebrations and enjoy some oldschool uA TF2 server craziness.

Bringing you updates from all parts of the uA community.

Although I've posted previously, I'd just like to reiterate that parts of the website are under construction so please bear with us while those additions happen.

We will also be announcing a feature to the site for people that live stream.

We want you to get more exposure (especially playing as uA!), so we will have an "official" list on the main page of streams that are currently live.

We're still working out the kinks with this one, so suffice to say it will be coming Soon™

Hello Fellow uA'ers!

Welcome to the first Unreal Aussies weekly blog!

As mentioned earlier, the aim of this blog is to ensure that the community is well informed on what we are achieving across all games. It is a way to keep us united even if we all play different games at times

If you haven't noticed, we are growing exponentially!

That is great news! The aim has been, now for quite some time, to not just be a gaming guild, but rather a community of people which are all united for the passion they have for games.

It has been a joy to see people, over the past month, play so many different games. In one night I have noticed players go from, GW2 to Dota2 to Blood Bawl to Path of Exile to.... you get the idea!

The reason we think a large community benefits all, is the momentum it carriers. It is easy to start playing new games, because with so many members, you are bound to find someone that would like to play the game with you!

It is also nice, because with such a variety of players, it is easy to find a close friend to play with who enjoys your style of gaming.

Now for some of the highlights that have been achieved over the last week, (or so since this is the first blog):
-The forum was upgraded, to allow each player to setup their preferred game view.
-We are in the process of setting up uA private game servers for games such as TF2, Arma2, and more.
-Vent is constantly having its total member cap increased, since there are so many of us.

Ok its time to dive into some game updates!

Before i finish up though i would like to thank you all for being part of uA. Each one of you, helps us shape this community into what it is and what it will be!

GW2 Transfer to Fort Aspenwood

Hi guys,

After much discussion with most of the Oceanic guilds on IoJ, it has been decided that we will all transfer to Fort Aspenwood (FA) with the exception of ND who are transferring to SoS.

Free transfers end on Monday 28th January as the guesting system will be implemented. After that, there will be a gem cost associated with transferring. If you happen to miss the deadline because you are away, please PM Jetleet.

Transfer to FA asap, as the server will be filling fast with all the people transferring and the more people we have over there the faster we can establish ourselves once again.

This will be the only transfer that will occur and the reason for doing it is that IoJ will no longer offer any WvW participation as all Oceanic and NA guilds are leaving.

If you wish to stay on IoJ for whatever reason (mainly PvE), fear not, we will still keep our PvE up. But you will be unable to WvW with us. Please note that if you transfer to FA, you can still guest back to IoJ if required.

League of Legends Launch

A few weeks ago we launched into the MOBA world with uA entering into the DotA 2 arena. Many people have asked for it, so we will now also be launching into League of Legends (LoL). You can apply using the application under the Recruitment heading in the navigation bar.

Agamemnus and Maraurder will be heading up the LoL division of uA.

Idling in the League of Legends channel in vent will be the best way for you to find a game.

Dedicated Server Hosting

Next February, Unreal Aussies will have its own dedicated server box. Yes, alright, the tears of joy are now streaming down your face.

For those of you that haven't had this reaction, I don't think you realise the potential in this server. This server will allow us to host any game server we want with Australian pings (it is hosted on the Gold Coast). Any game people are interested in, we can cater for.

As some of you may of noticed, we have been adding ARMA 2 application forms, channels and a forum subsection. We are officially launching a Wasteland server with around 40 slots to start off with. TehMasman will be heading up the ARMA 2 division of Unreal Aussies.

We will be launching into more games very soon, so please put your suggestions for servers in the Suggestions subforum.

I look forward to seeing you all on the current and future games we play!

Its launch time, as you may be aware we are pretty excited to be launching a guild in another game, but don't worry GW2 players, we are committed to running Unreal Aussies across multiple games!
